This paper shall define and examine the EarthÂ’s seasons. It will illustrate that the seasons are entirely dependent on the tilt of the EarthÂ’s axis and will explain how that tilt affects the relative position of the Earth in regards to the sun. During the course of this explanation, the terms equinox and solstice will be defined and their relationship to the seasons explained. Finally, the paper will elaborate upon the effects of the seasons, particularly in extreme climate zones on the planet such as the tropics and Polar Regions.
