N. Barber. (2001) Gender differences in effects of mood on body image. Sex Roles - a Journal of Research. January.

This paper addresses two now important topics in matters of mood, i.e., self-concept and depression, and also, body image. Barber discovered that subjects whose mood could be assessed to be higher, i.e., non-depressed, believed that they were less heavy, that they were closer to the slender ideal that is now seen as desirable in Western youth cultures.
