Growing Old Gracefully: Memory Maintenance and the Delany Sister's
Within this essay, I begin with a preliminary analysis of memory itself, and then introduce the Delany Sister's novel. Afterwards, I examine the conception of an age-differentiated society, relate such a society to the Delany sisters, and then examine the lifespan model of psychological development with the assistance of the Delany sisters. The rest of the paper deconstructs the lifespan model itself with the assistance of the theoretical analysis of an "age-differentiated society" while suggesting ways in which to improve the lifespan model's focus. In the end, I maintain that the lives of the Delany Sisters stand as a testament to the impossibility of universal definitions of what it means to be human.
