The Role of Cities in Nationalism: An Analysis of Nigeria
This ten-page undergraduate paper examines the role of cities in nationalism and focuses in particular on the important role Lagos played in the Nigerian nationalist movement. The author notes that LagosÂ’ role in the winning of independence in Nigeria demonstrated the decisive importance of cities in nationalism, for they usually contain the highest percentage of the population, the most educated classes, and the most politically active citizens.
