Hannah Arendt published one of her most controversial essays in her 1961 book Between Past and Future. In "What Is Authority, What is Freedom?" Arendt argued against the Western worlds view of liberty. She didnt believe freedom represented the ability of an individual to attain their desires. Actually, Ardent didnt think that personal desire or the achievement of ones goals signified human liberty at all.
