This paper will discuss the methods of three mathematical processes. The memorization skills of addition will be examined and resented. As well a discussion of the passage of abstraction in the decimal system and the Montessori materials that lend themselves to this process. The last item that will be presented is an explanation of the Pythagorean theorem. This will be presented for the Elementary 1 student.
