This paper discusses the characters of Dickens in "The Pickwick Papers" and how he achieves his effects using language and the names of the characters to help differentiate them and to keep the reader aware of the goings on of a large number of characters in one novel, allowing the way the characters speak to be one of the main ways of identifying them.
