Mysogynism in Literature: Understanding Female Passivity and Submission in The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope
In this paper we have presented the aspects of womens morality and fidelity in "The Rape of the Lock", which Pope has lessened to such a degree that women should have not rights to decline a mans advances. In this manner, a woman should always show humor, even when her virginity is being threatened for a mans own vanity. By actively making the Baron a hero by cutting of Belindas hair, Pope shows how little respect for womens beauty and independence of thought in a patriarchal society.
