Literature Analysis: The Theme of Revenge in The Cask of Amontillado by Allen Poe
In this paper we have analyzed the theme of revenge in The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe. The main character, Montreso, uses familial and the arrogance of the higher classes to destroy Fortunato. Fortunato is arrogant and a drunkard, but constantly diminishes and insults Montreso. By taking of his honor and familial obligations he gets the revenge he seeks by building a brick wall to entomb his enemy. This is why revenge is the basis and plan by Montreso in this grim tale by Edgar Allen Poe.
