This paper compares and constrasts the works "The Odyssey" by Homer and "Cold Mountain" by Charles Frazier, showing how Frazier used the Homeric epic as a guide and then took the form in a different direction, with characters of his own and situations reelatd to the Civil War and the conflicts that war brought out in men and women of the time, mirroring the Homeric poem openly.
