In this paper, we will present a book report on the French novel "Germinal" by Emile Zola. The main character Etienne must learn to live with French miners, and inevitably become involved in worker uprising. After being cynical of the miner's poor planning during the workers revolt, Etienne loses his cynicism and becomes aware of the power of a proletariat revolution.
