The Link Between Education and Economic Growth: The Importance of Human Capital.
This paper will give a critical analysis on how education and human capital at large affect economic growth. The paper will begin with an overview of the importance of human capital in economic growth theory. Upon this foundation, a comparative analysis will be given of the role of education in explaining economic growth in advanced and developing countries. In the final analysis, it will be argued that education and human capital are critical determinants of economic success. But not only is it the incidence of education but the quality of education that is important. Focusing on a qualitative comparison of education systems is beyond the scope of this paper, but it is recommended as an important subject for future study. 26 pgs. 42 f/c. 17b.
