This paper will discuss the Italian mafia. Its customes, beleif system and practies will be discussed. As well, a short history of the Italian Mafia will be examined. The idea of the Mafia as a subculture will be addressed along with views on whether the Italian Mafia is crumbling or is it as powerful as ever. The control the mafia has over business, police and government will also be brought up.
