There are a number of authors that have concluded that there is not much that can be done about high unemployment. In an inter-linked world that is increasingly governed by high technology and service oriented economies, many have come to accept that Canada's natural rate of unemployment is simply higher than other countries; the US in particular. This, however, is untrue. There is something that can be done about high unemployment. This paper will provide proof to support this assertion. It will show that there are several so-called 'home grown' factors that have sparked Canada's unemployment spiral. One way or another, all of them can be controlled.
