This paper shall explore the contract closeout process with the intention of demonstrating that there are techniques that could help ease this problematic period of contract involvement for all parties. This paper shall first demonstrate the functions of the staff involved in the contract closeout process. The third chapter shall examine existing problems in contract closeout through a review of the available literature, with an emphasis on those aspects of contract closeout that are most highly problematic. The fourth chapter shall address exactly why the contract closeout process so deeply terrifies those involved, where the difficulties of the contract closeout process shall be examined in detail. The fifth chapter shall examine the possible methods of aiding the contract closeout process, with an emphasis on how new technologies have the potential to assist in contract closeout. An emphasis on contract closeout in respect to government involvement shall be noted in all chapters. A conclusion shall summarize all key arguments made within this paper. 72 pgs.
