This paper critically assesses the factors of risk management that are found within the following two articles: The first is "Portfolio Selection" by H. Markovitz and "Capital Asset Prices: A Theory of Market Equilibrium Under Conditions of Risk" by W. Sharpe. These two articles are considered by economists and management strategists to be the premiere examples of early market assessment and management in portfolio theory.
