This paper expresses the fact that McCall was driven through a need to acquire power in his community, thus seeking out power through joining gangs, through participating in violence and murder, and through eventually reaching the other side of the prison system and onto a successful career as a journalist. This power is first expressed in terms of physical power over other individuals, and finally manifest as a sense of values that McCall is able to place over his own life. 5 pgs.
