This is a brief biographical sketch of Jules Michelet, one of the best French historians, certainly the most prominent of the 19th century. A precursor to current-day "people's historians" like Howard Zinn, his histories were based on the perspective of the common people of France, and tried to avoid the "great men and war" style of history so common in Napoleonic France. 3 pgs.
