This paper discusses the Great Sphinx. It discusses the story of a young boy who talked to the sphinx who promised to make him king if he would uncover the sand around him. The young man became king and kept his promise. Several sphinx have existed in past history including the sphinx that had a riddle that could not be solved, but Oedipus solved the riddle.
